Emily Discovered “Motionless” by Donna: Off to a Better Place

Today was one of my rare days off.  I was glad, because today Donna found her  beloved pet cockateil “Emily” motionless on the bottom of her cage.  I don’t even need to say how terribly upset Donna was, and those of you who know Donna, know what a compassionate and kind hearted person she is also.

I’m gone much of the time, and when Donna would come home at night, Emily was the one to greet her “hello” when she walked in the door.  I know the silence now will be very difficult.

If you would like, you can leave an uplifting message, and although it won’t bring Emily Back, it will be encouraging to know that her friends do care and don’t think she’s being silly.

Thanks,

Allen

  1. Thoughts are with you in your time of loss

  2. Heleo Donna……being a huge pet and animal lover, I truly know the sadness that comes with the lose of a dear, beloved friend and companion. Only through sharing those wonderful moments with your sweet pet that you bridge the gap between man and animal and become , not only closer to your own spirit, but closer to God himself. My heart goes out to you for the lose of an unforgetable part of your life, and hope the memories of your dear feathered friend helps you to smile often.

  3. SORRY ABOUT EMILY,
I TOO HAVE AA BIRD, A REAL CHARACTER WE CALL ZIGGY. ZIGGY IS AN AFRICAN GREY, ANSWERS THE PHONE WITH A CHERRY HELLO, GREETS VISITORS, AND OFTEN IMMITATES FAR–TS. DO’T KNOW WHERE HE GOT THAT.KNOW YOU LOVE EMILY AS MUCH AS WE LOVE ZIGGY. WE FEEL FOR YOU.

  6. Hi Guys,

Allen told me what he did, and I can’t tell you how much it means to me to get these messages.
Last Christmas, my Alexandrine, “Roger” flew away.
I was standing out side the house admiring all the Christmas light ’s I had just put up, with Roger on my shoulder.
I had recently had his wings clipped at the vets, so I wasn’t concerned. All of a sudden, he just flew away.
He stayed up in a tree for a long time as I just stood helplessly.
He finally flew away…..for good. I was heartbroken.
As bad as I felt about Roger flying away, I think Emily’s passing is even more difficult.
I thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and stories with me.

  11. Donna,

It is indeed a sad day when one of our little friends dies. I have two small Toy Fox Terriers and they are as much a part of my life and of my wife’s as well, as our own children. Like Emily, we love them and can only know that they share our love. They give us love unconditionally. The very sad thing about our pets and something that I sometimes think about is that we will all outlive our pets. I become incredibly emotional thinking about that sad day sometime in the future. But just as with a member of our family that passes, we can always keep the wonderful spirit of their life, alive in our hearts, all of our days.
I am so sorry for the loss of Emily.

  16. Losing a pet is hard. Anything that is loved and then lost is painful. You are not alone. Take care and have a good day.

  17. i am so sorry about the loss of your bird. I know how hard it is and it will get easier with time, just remember that she will be waiting at the rainbow bridge where all our animal friends will be waiting for us when we pass. My husband recently lost his dog and it does get easier with time.

  19. Dear Donna: My husband & I have really enjoyed all that you & your husband have shared with us about the Trucking Industry as we look to decide if it might be forus; it was with great sorrow & understanding of your grief when we read of your loss of dear little Emily. We too have beloved pets that are just part of the family, treasured, loved & valued beyond measure just like our children & grandchildren. Just know that your love for Emily & what you shared with her is not lost, but just moved to a higher plane; with God’s blessing she watches over you and will always be there for you. Take care, take heart–your little bird is “free” but always with you too. In peace & love Taylor & Linda
