Arrow Trucking Not the Last Trucking Company to Close

With hundreds of former drivers lining up to join the lawsuit against Arrow Trucking, what will 2010 ring in for the long haul trucking industry?   I can only reiterate what I have discussed before and that is Arrow Trucking will not be the last trucking company we will see close their doors.   There will be many more.  In fact, it has already begun.

YRC Worldwide, one of the nation’s largest trucking companies, is barely hanging on and it remains to be seen if they will indeed survive.

Carlen Transport out of Hampden, Main will be closing their doors, placing 100 drivers out of work because they are unable to maintain in the current economy.  After 23 years and having grown into the largest trucking company of its kind in the state, will be gone forever.

Auto Truck Transport, Corp. out of Springfield, Missouri will close down within the next few weeks.

Both large and smaller trucking transportation companies struggle to remain open, and the continual fall of many will take place unless stimulation of the economy begins . . . and that is where the problem lies.  There are no plans in place to get the economy moving again.  In fact, just the opposite is taking place.

With the new CSA2010 to take place, this alone could most likely lead to the fall of up to 50% of all trucking companies in the United States.   Compound this with the on-going determination to enact new legislation for emission controls, etc., and more companies and owner operators will call it quits.

There is much more building here than many realize.  Nothing is coincidental and, “just my opinion,”  there will be  more OTR trucking companies to fall.

Have you ever wanted to get your HazMat endorsement, but could never find the time to do so?  The Transportation Security Administration now offers truck drivers the ability to apply online and get the process in motion, even if they are currently trucking over the road.  They will also direct you to a fingerprinting station that is nearest to your location.

By using their submission application, you will be able to submit the HazMat application, pay the fee ($89.25) and obtain directions to the closest fingerprinting location.  By utilizing their site, drivers can be fingerprinted at any of their listed sites, not just the drivers’ home state.

If time has always been a problem for applying for the HazMat, check out this service at : hazprints.

Blog Talk Radio- Register and Enjoy the Variety

As you know,  Truth About Trucking “LIVE” is one of  the many Blog Talk Radio Shows on “the air”.  I’ve been really impressed by some of the shows, and encourage everyone to register. To get familiar with the types of shows they have, just head on over to the Blog Talk Radio site and be surprised at the variety that you will see.

You do not need to register or set up an account just to listen to a show, but I suggest to really get the full impact and experience, it would be an excellent idea to set up your own account. One of the reasons for this is that you can call in and mark your favorite shows for free. All you need is a headset( mic and earphones) to do this. If you do not have an account, you can still call in, but the phone number to call in will be long distance.  I have a feeling that once you start to familiarize yourself with the site, you’re going to get a bit addicted.  Also, callers can call in to the show, free of charge, through SKYPE.  As in any talk radio show, please turn your speakers down in order to prevent “feedback.”

After you go to the site, you can use the search bar in the upper right hand corner and type in a keyword or phrase for the show you want to listen to. Example: If you wanted to listen to a trucking show, just type in “trucking”. You could also type in a specific show, such as “truth about trucking”. In any case I think you will enjoy it!

See you there,

Donna
