I’m reaching the point of saturation with political topics.  It seems that at every turn there is some battle taking place within America’s politics.   So at times, I tell myself . . . no more.  Then, another piece of news breaks and it is so important and vital to our way of life, that I have to step in to the ring once again and prepare for yet another fight.

Thanks to TruckerToTrucker, we now discover that today, Sunday, August 9th, 2009 – Mr. Obama and “Mexican President Felipe Calderon will be discussing cross-border trucking at the North American Leaders Summit.” Furthermore, “President Calderon will pressure President Obama to move forward with opening U.S. roads to Mexico-domiciled trucking companies and truck drivers.” You can read their post : Mexican trucks are coming – for the full story and who to contact to voice your disapproval of this issue.

As I posted on TruckertoTrucker, this guy and his administration is out to do whatever they can to destroy the livelihood of so many Americans. I have nothing against Mexico and their people.  I love the country and its culture and so forth, but millions of Americans are without work, thousands of drivers are finding it difficult to locate work, thousands more of CDL grads cannot find a driving job, after the CDL schools took their money anyway … and not to mention the safety factor involved for our nations’ travelers.  It’s all under the disguise of the NAFTA agreement, but it’s only one more way to pull America down and create more hardships for the citizens of this country.

As America moves closer and closer to Socialism, I found myself wondering what this country will be like in 10, 15, or 20 years from now.   There are many out there who just do not care simply because it will not matter to them anyway . . . let’s face it, I may only have 20-30 years or so left on this earth, so why should I care?   I personally care for several reasons:  (1)  My kids will still be around and (2) my Grandkids will just be starting their young lives.

This movement toward Socialism did not start with Mr. Obama and his administration . . . In 2005, President George W. Bush revealed plans for the pay for performance act, that Obama is now pushing towards.  Although it is presently cited as being aimed at Federal agencies, I am certain that it will spread out into the public arena as time passes.  Socialism takes time . . . very slowly . . . in order for it to take hold and smother everything in its path.  We are seeing it with the take-over of GM, which I now call “Government Motors” and the mortgage companies, as well as the universal plan for health care.

All one has to do is look back on history and see how such acts have failed, and failed miserably.  Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned against adopting further socialism, saying Russian history clearly proves it is a recipe for failure.  Putin stated, “Any fourth-grade student knows Socialism has failed in every country, at every time in history.”

With the on-coming push for the pay for performance act, I wonder how it will play out within the public sector . . . and eventually, it will come to the public avenue.  When the Government begins telling us how much we can earn for a living, how much will they say that truck drivers can make?  What is a truck driver worth, dollar wise?

What about the different sectors of trucking?  Will an OTR driver be worth more than a local driver?  Is a driver pulling doubles worth more than one pulling singles?   What if you operate a day cab?  Will you be worth less?  Maybe the Government will base it on the average 70 hour work week.  What is a driver worth?   $8 per hour?   $10 per hour?  $15 per hour?

As an OTR driver, would you be satisfied if the Government tells you that you can only earn $1050 per week?   What if they determine your worth to be $560 per week?  Would you be OK with that?   Run all 48 states, 70 HOS rule, for $560 per week gross?    It almost makes me laugh, if the possibilities were not so real.

It may take 20 or more years for Socialism to take over America and I could be long gone . . . but I can’t help wonder how my kids and Grandkids could very likely suffer.   I could sit back and “not worry about it” but for their sake . . . I can’t do that.

Sarah Palin; If her name had been mentioned a couple of weeks ago we may have thought she was the neighbor down the street. Now, she is the topic of every news story, a common name in every household,  the fire of the Republican Party, the fear for the Democratic party, and frankly an inspiration for the American people.  To put it plainly, Sarah Palin not only represents “change”, but she is the very symbol of reform in action.  She is the passion that the American people are desperatley searching for and the belief and hope that hard work, commitment, and integrity can and will pay off.  She believes in cleaning up corruption in Government and “stopping” big Government. She doesn’t believe people should be punished for their dream of prosperity, but rather should be recognized and compensated for such.

Sarah Palin’s record in Alaska speaks for itself ( even though the Obama campaign is trying to discredit that also).  Her bold and confident personality has allowed her to make and execute choices for the state which has brought Alaska and it’s population respect and recogntion for their recent progess and accomplishments. 

Unfortunately the liberal media is on an all out mission to discredit Sarah Palin and her abilities, experience, and ethics. No doubt you have heard the rumors brewing about unethical or less than appealing behavior. Read what NewsBusters has to say about many of these accusations and allegations.

Recently Charlie Gibson of ABC interviewed Sarah Palin with a relentless desire to “trip her up”, asking questions that he had hoped would discredit her abilities, knowledge, and experience in goverment.  As you will see, her confidence and integrity appears to frustrate Charlie, as he just can’t get those answers he was so badly  seeking…for his own accomplishment and recognition within the liberal media. Here is the edited video of that interview. Just wondering, why didn’t Charlie ask Senator Obama those same questions when he had the chance? So, who is Sarah Palin and why do we care? Well, besides running for the VP slot with Presedential candidate John McCain, she is a passionate, corruption hating, big government abolishing, God fearing and reform seeking spirit of America.  . We care because it’s what we ourselves are searching for in our country. A symbol of not “just change”, but integrity, commitment and a desire to vote for what you believe in, not what the media and Washington say you should believe in or support.

No matter what political party you associate with, one thing I think everyone can agree on: Sarah Palin is sharp, courageous, motivated, and believes strongly in herself and her country.
