Florida High Speed Rail – Inside Florida Transportation Politics

Former Orange County mayoral candidate, Sally Baptiste was our special guest on Truth About Trucking “LIVE” talk radio, Thursday, February 11th, 2010 at 7 PM EST. A highly recognized transportation activist, Sally works to educate the public concerning the Governmental waste of taxpayers dollars, specifically on the endless miles of toll roads in the state of Florida. As Floridians are already paying taxes on such issues, she points out that the government continues to impose taxes on roads that are already bought and paid for by taxpayers.
Now, as Florida looks to build a high speed rail to run through the Tampa – Orlando – Miami corridor, Sally Baptiste works to further point out the waste of taxpayers money for this project that will cost Floridians a staggering $11.5 billion. For her second appearance on the show, we discussed various topics of great concern for every Florida taxpayer, as well as what Sally calls the “selling off of America.”

HR 45 Bill to House Targets Gun Control

Sally Baptiste just informed me about a little known Bill that just recently made it to the House of Representatives that is nothing more than an attempt at doing away with our 2nd Amendment Right: Gun Ownership.
The HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009 was just sent to the House and even many gun shop owners do not know about this Bill because it is “flying under the radar.” Basically, this “secret” Bill would make it illegal to own a firearm: any rifle with a clip or any hand gun unless:
- It is registered
- You are fingerprinted
- You supply a current drivers licens
- You supply a SSN
- You will submit to a physical and mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
- Each update – change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and will cost $25.00
- Failure to do so will automatically cause you to LOSE the RIGHT to own a firearm and you will be subject to facing one year in jail.
- There is a child provision clause on page 16, section 305 stating a child-access provision. Weapon must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.
- The Government would have the RIGHT to come and inspect your house to make sure you are storing the weapon safely, away from children, and fine is punishable for up to 5 years in State Prison.
As Sally put it: “This is just a “termite” approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society. Chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.”
The HR 45 Bill was very secretly done, but thankfully, the “word” is getting out.

I recently met Ray Srour Jr. and we have started working together to end the toll roads. Ray and I have established the foundation for how we can end the toll roads and we are now ready to develop a formal solution/plan that provides the funding for road and reforms transportation. eliminate the tolls and the Orlando Orange County Expressway Authority. However, Ray and I will need your help to make this happen.
If you are like most citizens here in Central Florida, you are fed-up with reckless government. You are fed up with the out of control and corrupt culture of the Orlando Orange County Expressway Authority. You are fed-up with the actions of Mayor Crotty. The selling of America to foreign interests is very much underway. Now, it is being reported that the Federal Highway Fund is nearing bankrupt. Monies that were supposed to go to repairing our roads and highways, went elswhere. . . and now, there is no way to provide the upkeep and maintenance. Elite insiders know that this is just a ploy to convince the American people that there is no other viable solution to the problem, except to “sale” off America to foreign lands. This is also their way to justify adding more toll roads and collecting additional taxes from the people. This is where Sally Baptiste steps in.
Sally is a citizen activist fighting for the people of Florida, as well as for all Americans. She, along with others such as Citizens Transportation Coalition, out of Naples, Florida, have discovered that the world famous, Alligator Alley in South Florida is now being put on the “for sale” block.
The Florida Department of Transportation wants to lease the 78 mile toll road to a private company in exchange for an amount of money, yet to be determined, that could be used for other road projects in Broward and Collier Counties. What’s not mentioned, however, is that the “private company” is foreign. America is slowing being “sold off” into foreign hands.

Sally Baptiste is an activist who is working to stop toll taxes and to reform transportation. She is in the process of organizing a Central Florida sign waving campaign, and an I-4 caravan to protest tolls on Florida’s I-4 and to protest the selling/privatizing of our country’s infrastructure – especially to foreign interests.
The messages will be “No Tolls on I-4“, “Protect the Freeway“, “Tourist Tax Dollars for Roads” and “Vote for Transportation Reform.” For those who have done a great deal of traveling across this country, they know all too well about the toll roads that stretch across our paths. Have you ever wondered, “Where does the toll fees go?” …. especially when you have to pay to drive on the road, and it feels like you’re running along a back-country road in an Army tank!
Sally has set out on a mission to change all that. Her plight was just brought to my attention, and I thought I would pass it on to those who may be interested in joining her cause, be it through her website or through her campaign right here in Florida. Does Florida really need more toll roads?

Rush Hour Protest Rally for Orange County, Florida
