Thanks for the posts. From everything I've seen and heard, especially from Ken Bons from our show last night, if you have an excellent driving record, etc., you should be able to find a driving job, even if you are a newcomer to the industry. As Ken said, if you have any kind of blemish on your record at all, your chances of being hired right now is next to zero. Companies have too many choices right now from those in the market due to the economy, so they have plenty of drivers to choose from, so they are going with the "cream of the crop." Schools are showing an 85-90 percent placement rate for students/grads. Any kind of ticket or blemish on your record will prevent you from being hired right now, again, due to so many drivers without any kind of blemish, being available right now. If you have an excellent record, your school should be able to land you a job - 85% to 90% ! You need to continue corresponding with your school that provided the training and keep after their placement department. With a high placement rate like this, if the school was reputable, they should have found you a driving job. Good Luck, Allen

I graduated December 19 with a 97% G.P.A. My license is class ABCD with the N and T endorsements, and I would get the H if necessary. I'm a middle-aged female and have never had a felony or misdemeanor arrest or conviction. I don't drink, take drugs only for medical reasons, and have never had an alcohol or drug related ticket or arrest. My last ticket and auto accident were in 2005. And I haven't been able to find an OTR job.

I am a recent grad who graduated on January 12th, 2009 with a G.P.A. of 94% and can't find a driving job anywhere. It is tough right now with no prior experience.

Great, as a company recruiter I've certainly seen some of this backlash in the industry - probably since about January. I'll definitely tune in.
