What is a Truck Driver Worth?

Trucking SocialismAs America moves closer and closer to Socialism, I found myself wondering what this country will be like in 10, 15, or 20 years from now.   There are many out there who just do not care simply because it will not matter to them anyway . . . let’s face it, I may only have 20-30 years or so left on this earth, so why should I care?   I personally care for several reasons:  (1)  My kids will still be around and (2) my Grandkids will just be starting their young lives.

This movement toward Socialism did not start with Mr. Obama and his administration . . . In 2005, President George W. Bush revealed plans for the pay for performance act, that Obama is now pushing towards.  Although it is presently cited as being aimed at Federal agencies, I am certain that it will spread out into the public arena as time passes.  Socialism takes time . . . very slowly . . . in order for it to take hold and smother everything in its path.  We are seeing it with the take-over of GM, which I now call “Government Motors” and the mortgage companies, as well as the universal plan for health care.

All one has to do is look back on history and see how such acts have failed, and failed miserably.  Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned against adopting further socialism, saying Russian history clearly proves it is a recipe for failure.  Putin stated, “Any fourth-grade student knows Socialism has failed in every country, at every time in history.”

With the on-coming push for the pay for performance act, I wonder how it will play out within the public sector . . . and eventually, it will come to the public avenue.  When the Government begins telling us how much we can earn for a living, how much will they say that truck drivers can make?  What is a truck driver worth, dollar wise?

What about the different sectors of trucking?  Will an OTR driver be worth more than a local driver?  Is a driver pulling doubles worth more than one pulling singles?   What if you operate a day cab?  Will you be worth less?  Maybe the Government will base it on the average 70 hour work week.  What is a driver worth?   $8 per hour?   $10 per hour?  $15 per hour?

As an OTR driver, would you be satisfied if the Government tells you that you can only earn $1050 per week?   What if they determine your worth to be $560 per week?  Would you be OK with that?   Run all 48 states, 70 HOS rule, for $560 per week gross?    It almost makes me laugh, if the possibilities were not so real.

It may take 20 or more years for Socialism to take over America and I could be long gone . . . but I can’t help wonder how my kids and Grandkids could very likely suffer.   I could sit back and “not worry about it” but for their sake . . . I can’t do that.

Allen I deeply respect your political views and the points you make. But keep in mind that independents like myself are now the dominate political group and as such we do not cater to the old arguements. They often simply do not work. If anything we have corporate business socialistic control of the government, regulators, and politicians. And these corporations use that social control to check & drive down wages, while cranking up the media campaign to say it’s all 4 the support of capitalism.

Both dems & repubs have ruin our economy with poor biz models. Regan, did it with deregulation of the S&L’s. If simply didn’t work. & Bush senior had to pay for it.

And if u need further proof, the world economy was just totally destroyed to the tune of losing 30 trillion dollars of worth by corporate socialist controling the regulators, getting derivatives totally deregulated, creating leveraged at banks of 10 to 20 to even 100 to one.

Next the cororate socialratzzi’s falsified the ratings on trillions of dollars of
mortgage bonds’ ratings. That should of been CCC to AAA.

Next both dems & Biz socialist sucessfully nullified any deceptive trade practices laws ad they applied to mortgage lenders actions. Noth for differing reasons.

Yes barney frank & freddoe mack also contributed, but that was not even half the cause. No one told the banks leveraged 60 trillion dollars 10 to 100 to one, and to falsify the bond ratings. Unregulated capitalism did that not socialism. Telling banks they can’t leverage 10 to 100 to one, or falsify bond ratings is not socialism but values driven capitalism. And quite frankly the only thing keeping the world afloat is the various stronger governments primarily the U.S.

I know this forum will not convince you, because you are following a philosophy all nearly prepackaged for you. I’d say 1/3 is good, 1/3 is ok needs improved & should be negotiable, &. 1/3 is pure precipatated crap of special interest. But that is not unique to any one party or philosophy. And probably applies to most.

And I will point out, that George Washington, was not a conservative of his time, but a liberal. Liberals are change agents from the status who. The true conservative of the 1700’s was King George. And most of the founding fathers statements against governent were probably aimed at the feudal system and monarchies.

And our problems in Virginia are probably Virginians following a strict stay in the budget philosophy supported by both dems & repubs. And while I propose capitalist solutions , they will be neither dem or repub in my mind but American values driven, creatively empathetic, problem solving capitalism for all of society.

In my opinion the capitalist problems at CRST are exa’s of no values capitalism. They make you think you are making more money, but really they just work you to death in their CDL training mill. If you happen to get raped, that’s not their problem. That is why I will propose value driven solutions to the CRST problem that will maintain profits but in a more humane & values driven capitalism. And the government will have to help & play their role. If CRST doesn’t implement fair values driven& profit driven solutions to their training problems, msybe with the help of WIT, plus the allegations against them prove true, plus one of their executives is found out to be trying to get influence by running 4 mayor in Cedar Rapids, if this is found out to be true? Then I say let them get sued out of existence.

This loss of profits will set the capitalist example, and I’m sure loss of income is a big concern to many conservatives. I’m not for high tax rates, in fact I’m for the fairtax.com you know get the gov’t off my accounting back, let biz’s collect the money, & it will help their cash flow at the same time. The CIA/FBI can monitor anyones finances to find terrorists, drug deslers anyway. This is the best capitalist tax solution in my opinion. And I understand how people want to ketl the money they geneate with low taxes, I agree with you, just that using futurism to play the socialism card to jawbone people to your political persuaion assumes your party has all the best answers and it’s not up for debate. The founding fathers were for true reasoned debate, kings, monarchs, & feudal systems are not. Don’t play king by using mind control techniques, or slanted statistics from whatever party. Lay the facts out fairly, and debate them fairly.

Your minority party is fully protected by our constitutional republic, (first conceived by Aristotle & the Greeks, not the founding fathers), and I really enjoy your views when you present them clearly honestly & fairly. It will maintain your integrity with me and a few others of the independent majority, plus everyone will get the benefits of your deep, creative, vastly intelligent ideas that you come up with through hard work and independent thought, not assigned to you by a party.

So I hope you don’t use the trucker as a platform as politics as usual. Let’s all keep an open mind and not start out with a series of undebated assumptions. To that end, I hope u get a pocasting system in place, & I assure there can be some great solutions brought about by the trucker app if focuses on original solutions, not canned rhetoric. For todays solutions, we need to bring back proper debate, original independent thinking, & critical reasoning tested to empathetic creative, & values driven problem solving for the benefit of all societies groups, not just a few.

That is why on my Twitter page, @a_smart_union I am right now explaining the biz model of an app within an app that truckers could help develop for the resource page base not on socialism, but on the value and free choice capitalism created by the teams who create them in an infinite amount of ways and varities to solve an infinite number of problems. The capitalism of this model is very important for motivation. Just as you don’t want to lose the wealth created by your hard work thru high taxes, so this app within an app needs proper fair and values driven biz model. Expecting people to do it for free, didn’t work at Plymouth Rock, and trying to pump up the resource page with free labor, is like trying to blow up a hot air basket ballon like a party ballon. I don’t care how hard you work, with proper fair capitalism, will lift that trucker resource page, like you were using a 8 cylinder hot air generator. I like to see you outwitk one of those.

Allen you are in a unique position, you can help drivers not only thru the app, but also thru allowing them to improve it under a capitalist biz model. See my Twitter page Sunday Or Monday leading up to your BTR show.

Thanks for all your hard work Allen, and allowing proper comment on a variety of topics. I’m always inpressed by your open mindedness, hardwork & fairness in discussing issues. Next let’s add some values driven capitalism and be a better capitalist and entrepreneur than you already are. Don’t be limited by ideology, rhetoric, & false logic.

I’m not sure what this post has to do with “trucker”….at times I write about various topics that interest me….sometimes they are political, but they are only my views and opinions …. nothing more….I am not following any philosophy that has been prepackaged for me … I am very capable of looking at both sides of a situation and determining which side, if any, I agree with. Again, what I write and choose to discuss are simply my thoughts and opinions …. nothing more …. thanks for the post, and be safe. Allen

Being a parent & a Granparent, I agree with you Allen that the World Stage is set for a future of uncertainty I’d rather my kids & Grandkids would not have to endure.
Poliitics aside, I fretted over these things when I was a child believe it or not because I was exposed to Native American Philosophies that take into account that what we do today should be mindful of 7 Generations after us.
It was apparent to me that this was not being observed & at some point our own technology would ultimately be our demise.
The Government seems like it really is like all the Sci-Fi Flicks of the 70’s
I’m not sure what the “Trucker App” has to do with any of this but I’m glad to hear the variety of opinions & thankful that at least for now, we still have a Country where we are permitted to discuss them in public.
And Thanks to Allen & place to share them.

Thanks Desiree – Politics and Religion – you know the two things that will stir up all kind of controversy! I respect everyone’s thoughts and opinions about a full array of subjects … I just post mine from time to time.
