The DAC petition is now over 1,000 signatures and we are working with our efforts to continue this drive for reform. We are working on getting Congressman Paul Tonko on our BTR show for an update on Jason’s Law.

This is great to see this “Cause” get the word out. It is good to see the effort bring put into this. With two to three million professional drivers in USA, I would think their would be more signatures, but again, hopefully the Dallas show will get the word out.

Thanks everyone for your positive support.

I think something I’d like to point out is that the Family has been going to talk to people in their community who are all NY Voters but GATS offers a variety of folks from many states who are Voters.

Also, the petition signatures are still important, media attention is still important and the personal healing that comes from having a focus after having a loss like Hope Rivenburg , her children and family will be cathartic.

People who donated gave this money for Hope & her family.

Let the healing begin and lets get ready for GATS!

You’re welcome, Jason’s Law: We were very happy to play a small role in this effort. As I stated in the previous post, getting Jason’s Law to DC was not the issue at hand … you will make it to Washington. Taking it to a large truck show was the issue right now, and thankfully, that goal has been achieved. Too many believe that EVERY truck driver and organization, association, etc., knows about Jason’s Law. As you well know, this could not be further from the truth. You could sit down at a truck stop and ask 10 drivers about Jason’s Law, and I would bet maybe 2 or 3 would know what it is. The numbers are climbing, but still, actual drivers who understand what H.R. 2156 is all about, may still be in the 20% to 30% range. This is why getting to GATS was so important! A show as large as the Great American Trucking Show is the BEST place to be at this moment in time …. where literally, thousands of drivers and trucking representatives can see and hear about Jason’s Law, who have not yet heard about it. The potential of receiving new sign-ups and supporters for Jason’s Law from GATS will only add to the strength and backing of this bill when you go to Washington.

Thanks Kathleen: A lot of good people were involved in this effort and since the Rivenburg family is now able to go to GATS, the donation drive was a success. There is some talk about getting this to DC would be more important than GATS, but I do not see this as being a problem. They will go to DC as well … Congressman Tonko, I know, will see to this. The struggle they were having was making it to GATS and getting the issue of Jason’s Law more out into the public eye. The Rivenburgs’ never asked for anything except to support H.R. 2156 – The donation drive was a GREAT idea and because of those who participated, was successful.

We would like to thank all those who have donated 4 Jason’s Law to go to GATS, there are still many truck drivers and individuals unfamiliar with Jason’s Law and what it would and wouldn’t do, so this should help let drivers know so they can contact their representatives. Unfortunately we had a few people who donated and then decided they didn’t think we should go to GATS that DC would be better, but congress is on break during August so that would be fruitless unless we went to all 50 states to see them in their home districts so for now DC is not an option until Congressman Paul Tonko advises us to, there fore I requested their donations be refunded so there wouldn’t be the negativity. We are trying to help the trucking industry, not ourselves and all of us united together can and will make a difference. Thank you for your support and continued support as long as we all support the legislation the back and forth bickering should not be taking place, we all have the same goal, making Jason’s Law a reality. A Really Big THANK YOU to Allen and Donna, Daniel, Desiree, TJ, and the anonymous donors, you guys truly have big hearts.

Wonderful achievement! WTG Allen, Desiree, TJ everyone involved. As I told TJ; What makes this Country great are people like you who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

Hope’s tragic loss could have been any one of you truckers, any one of us trucker’s wives. May God bless you Hope and meet all your needs. May He heal your broken heart and give you more strength and power to tell Jason’s story. Your love and dedication to his memory will change the world. Thank you, you have a friend in California.
